This truly exceptional Ford Cortina MKV has covered little over 50, 000 miles and according to data online is the only Cortina MKV GL Automatic still on the roads in the UK. This true time warp was manufactured in Dagenham in April 1980 and has led a sheltered life. From 1980 the Ford had husband and wife owners for 41 years and MOT records show very little mileage was covered between 2011 and 2020, spending much of this time in storage. NNK 52V has arrived with us in outstanding condition and without doubt is an unrepeatable opportunity to acquire this very rare survivor.
The Cortina was sold in 2021 and at 47500 miles the Ford had a replacement timing belt and new alternator fitted. The original steel wheels were refurbished but the owner didn't keep the car long, and in May 2022 the Ford sold to the last owner, a Reverend and long term customers of ours in Inverness. During recent ownership the Ford VV carburettor has been rebuilt, a replacement exhaust manifold fitted and then some cosmetic attention has improved the Cortina and taken it to a superb level. A new carpet set has been fitted with OE underlay, new seat belts fitted and the original seats re-foamed. A correct Ford P32 AM/ FM stereo has been sourced and fitted and externally the car has been subject to detailed paintwork, brand new rear bumper fitted and new chrome trims to the body, doors and screen fitted. Period front foglamps and a correct Ford switch has also been fitted.
NNK 52V has an exceptional, straight bodyshell with gleaming paintwork and an excellent underside. The attention to detail is superb with a delightful engine bay, clean boot compartment and original tools and boot mat are present. Whilst the interior has had new carpets, it's incredibly original and lovely throughout. On the road the Ford feels excellent with a strong, fit healthy engine and performance is impressive. The gearbox ensures a relaxed driving experience, the car feels tight, responsive and excellent throughout.
