My Father purchased this TC in 1993 as a partially dismantled project. A matching numbers, home market car, it had been off the road since the 1960s where it had spent most of its life in Wales (Cardiff reg). I have some letters from the Lady who owned it then. The car was untouched until 2012 when my Father passed away and I decided to get it back on the road. Main chassis was sound and most of the wood frame was good, but I took the car to a well regarded pre-war bodyshop and they restored whatever metal and woodwork that was needed - mainly rear wings, scuttle area and paintwork. As the car remained original, I didn't want to over restore so it still has lots of patina and various scuffs and marks. The new paint was even mixed to reflect some ageing! The seats are still the original leather but restored to a good usuable condition. Dashboard was varnished and guages rebuilt so everything works. Rear axle and gearbox are in good working order. Brakes were rebuilt and new kingpins fitted. Petrol Tank was relined locally (at great expense) Once the car was back on the road around 2015, I found the Oil Pressure was too low so after going through the whole rebuild it seemed sensible to get the engine rebuilt. This was done by Robin Lackford Engineers in Sussex and they discovered a cracked cylinder head so that was replaced along with a complete rebuild and new ancillaries costing over £9k. Since then the car is only just run in with 727 miles on the clock. We now have a good 50lbs of oil pressure! I treated the car to a new set of weather gear - new hood, full and half tonneaus and new sidescreens all in mohair. The chromework was all renewed years ago and is still lovely. New tyres and stainless exhaust and a period Bluemels steering wheel! The registration is the original and has been valued at £3k on its own and will not be seperated. By no means a show car, this TC is for driving and enjoying and always puts a smile on my face and a gets a wave from onlookers. It could be improved if so wished, but there is really no need to spoil what is a very original MG. Happy to show people the car by prior arrangement. Lots of photos and history.
