NSU RO 80, manufactured 1976, late production car with engine improvements aimed to eliminate the known sealing problems.
Old German registration with three registered owners.

The car has been recently rescued after a very long dry storage, hence submitted to an extensive service including all the fluids and the filters, complete brake system overhaul, complete fuel line overhaul and exhaust silencer remanufacture (it’s not available as a spare). In detail, the tank has been cleaned inside, all the fuel hoses have been replaced, the fuel pump has been overhauled and new seals installed, and new filters have been added. All the brake calipers have been restored, new rear brake discs installed, all around new brake pads and hoses, and brake regulator replaced. The exhaust rear silencer has been disassembled, the damaged inner parts remanufactured as well as the outside casing, and the original factory plate re-welded on the casing. All the exhaust mountings have been replaced.
The car drives beautifully, the engine starts immediately and runs as smoothly as you would expect from a Wankel engine, with no rattles, vibrations and no smoke at the exhaust. It pulls strongly through the perfectly working semi-automatic gearbox. Power steering is perfect as well. All the electrics are in good working order with the exception of the radio that is disconnected. Tyres are old and would benefit from a replacement. No work needed except a pair of front CV joint boots.
Bodywise the car is straight and sound, no traces of damage or visible corrosion even on the floor pans. The car has been resprayed a long ago, the paint is very nice as well as the aluminium windows surround. Chromework is in very good conditions, it still looks factory-original. Bumpers are straight and shiny, headlamps and rear lights intact, factory-option Fuchs wheels are perfect.
Interior is totally original and confirms the low mileage, almost perfect seats, carpets, dash and headlining. Only the top of the rear seat back shows an area where the cloth is slightly frayed.
Engine bay is totally natural, it has never been cleaned, a bit dusty but dry with no evidence of oil or coolant leaks. All the factory-original stickers and plates are in place.
The boot is solid, floor is intact including the spare wheel tray. The floor mat is missing as well as the spare wheel, while the original jack is in place.
Reassuming, a honest and original car and a very good driver, finished in a charming colour combination, fitted with alloy wheels and sunroof, needing only a bit of DIY to make it perfectly enjoyable.
