So rarely available now; Recaro manufactured for Porsche original factory fit a 1970 black basket weave vinyl pair of front seats - and suitable for 1969 - 1972 cars. Wonderful condition with a couple of small stitching repairs on a couple of seams but just very small areas. Not restored but extremely clean with working mechanism, tilt, intact runners and full position adjustment. Chrome is ok generally- as is usual one side (the inners on LHD) are much much better than the outers but perfectly good overall- not rechromed and so not concourse. As you know the chrome can be disassembled and rechromed but that’s a significant undertaking- these are fine and wear their 50 plus years well. The chrome is very good overall.
Originally from a Left hand drive car but as you know these seats can be switched to either side as the runners are the same. It just means the back adjustment lever points into the centre but means you can switch them around to get the lesser used passenger seat as a drivers seat.
The basket weave was sought after in its day and was fitted in period with matching door and dash trim and this is all original on the seats- they will look very good in the right car.
We have thoroughly cleaned the seats with Maguires interior seat cleaner over two hours, hoovered them and wiped down the chrome and the under seat pads and seat backs. They come ready to bolt to the floor and use.
All the webbing and horse hair upholstery is fully intact and has not been messed with.
As is usual they are missing some of their 4 Recaro plastic handles but these are not hard to find. 1 plastic handle visible in the photo will come with the seats so you can match them.
Let me know if you want a closer photo of the very minor repairs - done before my ownership- but hardly noticeable as you can see and only on one seat- the stitching breaks normally at the seat seams in places and on the seat back and so is a very common repair and not that hard to do and has been done very well- it’s hardly noticeable in this case and in the photos and you have to really look to find it. It’s been done probably 30 years ago and has not needed redoing.
One or two original labels remain intact on the base of the seats- I can send a photo if wanted.
Ideally collected London Alexandra Park N22 or by your courier. They weigh about 45/ 50 kilos each- near half the weight of original and the much more expensive Recaro sports seats!
They are a very nice pair of seats with excellent patina and look. Given their age, their will be one or two marks here and there but we didn’t want to try and remove these - one is a small paint mark on the lower front (hardly visible) below the seating area which I’m sure is removable but isn’t visible when installed. It’s been there since I’ve had them. But they are not restored and there will be marks and nicks commensurate for seats older than 50 years. Basket weave material is available but it rarely looks as good as the original weave.
The tilt and backrest adjustment mechanism are all intact - some grease applied would make them a little more usable- and I noticed one incredibly rare plastic back tilt mechanism inner liner- just about intact but most seats have lost the inner liners many years ago and they are no longer available - shout if you want a photo.
The zinc coatings to the rear seat mechanism tilt and lift cross members are all original Recaro finishes - and so won’t look over -restored.
There are not many seats for sale now and these must be one of the nicer sets fully usable as they are.

I’ve just added UK delivery ( but subject to a weight check as they have a 30kg limit) with parcel force but this will have to be 2 separate parcels due to their weight restriction ( hence the cost) and needs to be sent tracked and insured.
