1956 Corvette C1 Convertible Manual Gearbox, Nice driving car For Sale

The decision finally came in 1953: a new Chevrolet sports car was going to be introduced, the Corvette. Myron Scott, assistant director of the public relations department at General Motors, was tasked with designing it. The name Corvette had already been chosen, borrowed from a small agile warship of that era. While the Corvette is considered a substantial car for us over in Europe, it is considered a compact and highly maneuverable two-seater in America. The Corvette represents “freedom and adventure.”

The Corvette you see here was built in 1956 in St. Louis and first registered on July 1 of that year. Thus, this Corvette belongs to the first series of C1s, with single headlights. The body of this C1 is neat and presented in one of the most beloved of all color combinations: red with white. The paintwork is in excellent condition. The chrome details gleam, as befits a 1950s American car. The ensemble is completed by chrome wire wheels with tires featuring subtle whitewalls. This C1 represents the epitome of the fifties.

The fifties styling is carried through into the interior with a lot of red paintwork, chrome, and beige leather. The dashboard recalls the style of jukeboxes from that era but is at the same time relatively straightforward in design. The speedometer placed in the center in front of the driver is accompanied by a considerable number of centrally positioned gauges. All of them are very tidy and functioning properly. As for the upholstery, it’s crafted in beautiful beige leather. It carries a very subtle patina without any damages, which is just the way we like it. It complements the overall condition of the car perfectly.

The mechanics are also in excellent condition, featuring the 265 cubic inch V8, equivalent to 4. 3 liters in European measurements. With a power output of well over 200 horsepower, the Corvette remains a highly spirited car capable of delivering very appealing performance. The mechanics have been well-maintained, allowing the eight-cylinder engine to run beautifully and release power to the asphalt through a four-speed manual gearbox and the rear wheels.

A well-maintained Corvette C1 for many highly enjoyable and far from subtle rides. The car comes with an instruction manual, power output report, and relevant invoices.
