Description

Reluctantly offer for sale is my Volvo 343dl.

First things first, it currently doesn't drive. One of the drive belts broke due to the incorrect belt being used (the garage who replaced the belts previously only did one belt and replaced it with an incorrect one - believed to be from a DAF. All in all, the previous garage did a number on it!!). I sourced 2 pairs of replacement drive belts, as well as a replacement drive unit, with belts on. I attempted to replace the drive unit, but alas life took over and it's been sat dormant for the past few months. I've come to the realisation that I won't get round to it (Also my dad needs his garage back, where the car currently resides!).

So current status of the car is as follows:
- Engine starts okay (takes a few turns when left for a while as mechanical fuel pump).
- Prop shaft disconnected (resting on the exhaust).
- Drive selector disconnected from drive unit.
- Drive shaft bolts started to be removed. A few have rounded off and we started to try extract them to no avail. I will ensure all drive shaft bolts are put back in for collection.

The car does start so the brakes work okay, but it will not move under its own steam as the prop is disconnected. It will need collecting via a trailer/ flatbed.

Good bits of the car:
- Engine runs sweet as nut.
- Very solid.
- Brakes, suspension etc all okay to my knowledge. Ran and drove fine until the drive belt decided to sh* t itself.
- 31k miles - believed to be genuine.
- Some history with it. Haynes manuals etc.
- Spare drive unit (believed to be working) & 2 pairs of drive belts.

Not so good bits:
- It has patina, marks consummate with age. It isn't a show queen, but is in good condition.
- Someone has had a go at repairing the bottom of the A Pillar, where it once had rusted. Its solid but very messy.
- Interior could do with a tidy.
- Missing one rear seat belt (all others present and working).
- Headlight switch broken (included but can switch the lights on with plyers).
- Engine has slight oil leak (that's how you know old cars have oil in, am i right?!)
- Not sure if fuel pump is weak? As mentioned above, can take a few turns to get fuel from the tank. It always fires up though, just one point to mention.

All in all a very very rare car in good condition for it's age. If the drive unit is replaced, it will be a belting (no pun intended...) car. We've attempted but come to the realisation that it won't ever get done, with life, other projects etc.

Collection only please. Happy to liaise with any transporter, but must be arranged and paid for by the buyer. I can send more photos, videos etc. Viewings welcome (car garaged in my parents house in Oakworth).

Would prefer bank transfer, but happy to take cash. £1350. but open to sensible offers.
