This 1969 Volvo Amazon 122S, a right-hand drive, two-door coupe with a 1, 986cc 4-cylinder petrol engine and manual transmission is for sale to finance a new project. Important difference from the other Amazones advertised everywhere is the fact that hardly any rust can be found on this car. Originally assembled in Durban, South Africa, I bought this Amazon in Benoni in 2002 and it remained in my ownership from 2002 until now. I trusted it for many reliable miles over long distances in South Africa. After being imported into the Netherlands in 2007, it was regularly driven and maintained by myself or the garage. But NEVER in the salt of winter days!
The car has been standing in a dry garage (in France) for the last 10 years and been driven every 3 months. The sound of the engine will astonish you. Ask me to send you a film to prove it. It is original and has never been overhauled. The flashy red interior is also in good state. The floor rubbers are being repaired and new carpets will be added. It is at the moment still in Domgermain (near Nancy), but can be driven to Holland if easier for you as a serious buyer.
Technically there is little to be improved. The bodywork is hard with only a few minor issues, as shown on the detailed photographs. One dent is at the front just under the bonnet, and the other almost under the car, but are both not visable. Since a week I have noticed small blisters appeared on the front door. No idea what caused it. Must have been the dustcover that was put on. I have lovely films available on request. What more is there to say? It is a beauty, see for yourself! A.) from the first owner, who had cared for the car as it should be done. From there on I did the same, up till now. Of course parts have been renewed over the years, of which I have kept record. It would be nice to see the car go to a caring new owner. Used properly there is no reason why the engine can not keep on going for another 100. 000 kms!
