1957 Bedford RL Green Goddess fire engine
The Green Goddess is the colloquial name for the RLHZ self propelled pump manufactured by Bedford, a fire engine used originally by the Auxiliary Fire Service (AFS), and latterly held in reserve by the Home Office until 2004, and available when required to deal with exceptional events, including being operated by the British Armed Forces during fire-fighters strikes (1977 and 2002). These green painted vehicles were built between 1953-1956 for the AFS, the design was based on a Bedford RL series British Military truck.

SYH358 was built in 1955 by Plaxtons and registered in 1957, it was stored at the London Home Office and went onto the 1977 Burberry fire strike, then again in active service during the 2002 fire strike based at Dover. After (AFS) decommissioning in 2004 it was used at a airbase until 2015, Between 2015 and present its been in a couple of private collections including being on show at the Swansea bus museum
Has all the equipment and we have been told by the previous keeper that everything works but don't ask us how...
Engine and brakes have recently been serviced, we have driven it on a journey of 20 miles and confirm it drives as it should.
Now 66 years old and correctly registered as Historic benefiting MOT exemption and car be driven on a standard car licence.
