Classic Car Design offers you this rare Smart roadster in coupé body, with a glass rear section that makes it look like a « mini shooting brake » ! It dates from 2006, the last year of production, and comes in the best-equipped Xclusive finish. A demonstration vehicle from a dealership in Haute Savoie, it was bought a few months after its release by its current owner, so it's a first-hand car with only 21, 000 km! With 82bhp and weighing just 790kg, it's a fun car to drive.
On the outside, there's no other car quite like this sports car with its electrically opening roof. You can quickly remove the side arches if you wish. The Xclusive version is distinguished in particular by its full paintwork. The typical three-spoke wheels are well covered by the shapely wings. All in very good condition, with very few signs of use.
Inside, you'll feel right at home in the Smart atmosphere, and when you sit down, the phrase 'driving low to the ground' really comes into its own! There are two additional gauges on the top of the console. There are the 'carbon-like' inserts typical of the Xclusive trim level. All the upholstery has stood the test of time. Not so Spartan, air conditioning and heated seats are still part of the equipment and the mid-engined architecture provides two boot compartments, the rear one being much more spacious than in the 'three-box' roadster version.
Mechanically, the little 3-cylinder turbocharged engine is in fine fettle. The sound is furious, and the vivacity is astonishing. For pleasure, we prefer to use the 6-speed manual gearbox with paddles rather than the automatic. There's nothing to report on the running gear : everything is in perfect condition, a real little go-kart!
The Smart roadster remains an atypical car today, even rarer in coupé form, offering real economy of use with very low fuel consumption... An engaging and very reasonable little sports car!
