This beautiful Splitscreen camper was first registered on the 19th August 1959, having had the craftsman at the Devon conversion company build the lovely Caravette interior, when camper furniture was crafted with skill and pride. Just look at the curved cabinet as you enter and the matching seating. You'll notice on both the table tops , the door mounted shelf the bulkhead unit and the hob table they all still wear the original matching red formica , not mixed and matched in this very original camper.
If this little time capsule could talk , she would have some fantastic stories to tell. Chris bought his camper some 33 years ago from Albert Philips, Chris paid just £450 for the camper all those years ago, being a young man himself it was all he could afford, the camper was a little tired so Chris promised he would take good care of Alberts old camper and he promised he would return and show Albert the camper after he had given the old girl some TLC. On the 22nd July 1991 , a year to the date, Chris arrived back at Alberts house to surprise him with the work he had carried out, amongst the history is the photo from that day. Back in the day Chris had a band with some friends and the camper was the 'tour bus', travelling far and wide. Chris has grown up with the bus, through courting, marriage, family holidays being part of so many special memories. Now Chris is looking to try other things touring Europe, so is finally ready to find a new custodian for his lovely old bus. I guarantee if I could , I would be the next person on the log book.
Over the years Chris has continued to improve his campers, and 6 years ago he had her fully restored to a very nice standard. She finished in VW Seagull Grey over Mango Green and looks perfectly aged rather than fresh paint ...... simply beautiful. Being a '59 she has semaphore indicators and her 1200cc engine, which pootles along just as she should. Open the cab door and you'll see the original bench seat with seams on the drivers side just gaping a little on her caramel vinyl which matches the door cards and looks period perfect.
In the back you'll see the deep red fabric, which I think again looks just right but of course you could refresh if you wanted to. The gas hob in the original fold down cabinet is still mounted on the door and ready for a cuppa.
If you're looking for a quality RHD Splitscreen camper, then you won't find a better more original camper at a very sensible price of £40, 000 We're based in North Devon, we can help with high quality videos and can help with delivery both nationally and internationally at cost. Don't delay this kind of special , doesn't appear very often.
