1984 Golf GTi MK2
Colour Diamond Silver L97A

This is a very early MK2 Golf GTi or as the enthusiasts refer to it the “Type 19”. I’ve owned this car since 2012 and during that period I’ve spend huge amounts of money on this car. The car has been carefully rebuilt to retain all those original details apart from some subtle upgrades and the major engine overhaul.

This car is my pride and joy and as such it has been well treated and worked on by the best in the business during the build process.

This car was stripped down to bare metal before being prepped and re-sprayed by Stylehaus Bodyworks in Northampton. They are renowned for working with the older VWs and understood the mk2 golf. The car was finished by wet sanding the lacquer leaving a mirror like finish.

The exterior was left to appear as stock, once the paint was completed all the original decals and warning stickers were re-applied. The standard ariel position was also left on the wing to retain the original character.

The interior was updated with electric Recaro seats (VW MK2 original seats) and re-trimmed by MJ Interiors. The original interior was badly worn and replacements were difficult to source. I decided to recreate the interior pattern in a restomod style based on the original interior. Using silk nappa leather and alcantara materials. The steering wheel is an original mk1 campaign 4 spoke 4 button wheel originally had a leather stitched rim however this was re-stitched using Alcantara to match the seats. I sourced a set of original electric side mirrors including the original loom and fitted these. The controller has been neatly incorporated in the side pods.

The interior is in very good clean condition. The indicator stalks are the original type19 style (smaller stalks like the MK1). The MFA no longer works but the rest of the dash board rev counter, speedo, temp/ fuel gauge including all warning lights indicators etc are are working.

The bad bits

This car was built in 2012 and as such has over time a very few minor chips.
The divers door car will need to be seated properly in the scraper but to be perfect a new door card will be required
The roof lining will need to be replaced.

Regardless of the above criticism you can see from the pictures the car is superbly presented.
