1948 MG TC - concours condition
MG TCs of this quality rarely become available
Following the cessation of the Second World War, car production was to get underway at Abbingdon as quickly as possible as exports were essential to a beleaguered economy.
The MG TC was effectively a revised version of the Pre-War TB model and was to become the definitive model of the T Series. Still with pre-war appearance and character, but with a few more refinements, including the extra width of the body, giving a less cramped feel in the cockpit.
The excellent XPAG Type engine provided brisk acceleration and a top speed of 75 mph - very respectable at that time. Handling was taut and responsive, as was expected from an MG. With some 10. 000 examples built between 1945 - 49 and a considerable percentage of these going for export, the TC won many friends both at home and overseas.
This MG TC has been rebuilt to the highest standard over a period of a number of years with the work carried out mostly by a retired aircraft engineer
Considerable amounts of time and money have been spent on this MG with all major components having been overhauled and the chassis stripped completely.
The restoration commenced in 2009 with the objective of producing the highest possible result. There is a spreadsheet of all work and associated costs fully itemised, together with two large files of history and documentation and an owners manual.
Finished in dark British racing Green with cream leather interior trim, with a walnut veneer dash and Brooklands steering wheel, the car has a 5-speed gearbox conversion by Hi-Gear Engineering which makes longer journeys more relaxed at cruising speeds.
The brakes benefit from ?Alfin? drums, whilst a stainless-steel exhaust system has been fitted.
The original slatted radiator grille is included, although we rather like the mesh item that is currently fitted.
A complete tool roll is also supplied.
If you are seeking an exceptional MG TC, you would be very had pressed to find a better example anywhere.
