According the Heritage Certificate on file this attractive BJ8 MkIII 2+2 left the Abingdon factory in March 1967 destined for Hartwells Ltd. Built in the final year of Healey 3000 production it is a Mark III Phase 2 with 148bhp, plus it benefits from the revised rear suspension giving it improved rear ground clearance along with later rear lights. Other options included an Overdrive gearbox, adjustable steering column and a separate black tonneau cover in addition to the usual folding hood.
The extensive history extends to four lever arch folders, with large collection of MoT certificates, the original Buff logbook, and dozens of parts and maintenance invoices stretching back to the mid 1980s. Recent work includes a new water pump and thermostat, speedometer cable and angle drive, replacement fusebox and a new aluminium fuel tank. New spoked wire wheels have been fitted, complete with fresh Blockley tyres which have made a vast improvement to the handling. It has also been fitted with Pertronix electronic ignition which makes the Healey a real pleasure to drive, with easy starting, no throttle hesitation plus improved mpg.
The subject of a full restoration in the early 2000s (CD of resto images on file) it remains in delightful condition, with excellent chrome and bright Colorado Red paintwork. The black interior presents well, with the odd mark and some wear, but nothing that would stop the purchaser enjoying the car straight away.
Owned by the Seller since 2010 it has been well maintained and driven regularly over the past 13 years, but he has a new project starting soon so the time has come to part with the Healey.
Further images, documentation and information are available on request. The Healey is available for viewing by arrangement near Haslemere, Surrey.
