1961 Jaguar Mark 2

This is a very original early 1961 Jaguar Mk2 3. 8 manual with overdrive in rare Opalescent bronze with red leather trim the one to own.
It's time for me to think about parting with this lovely example after 20 years of ownership.
If your looking for an example of a MK2 that drives like a new car and is in concourse condition then this is not the car for you there are many other examples that suit your requirements.
There are very few Jaguar Mk2's that are this genuine and original most are over restored and modernized. Presented with a massive history file this car is a matching numbers car restored sometime in the 1980's to a nice standard. What you see is what you get with this lovely car it's not full of filler or just had a concourse paint job.
Should you wish to drive a period correct and usable example of a lovely Jaguar Mk2 that drives like they did back in the early 1960's without power steering, modern brake conversions, the correct Moss gearbox then this is a stunning and now rare car.
In my ownership the jaguar has been kept in a heated garage services correctly and used sparingly for 20 years, it will be offered for sale freshly serviced with a current MOT test as it's exempt.

Mechanical

The 3. 8 XK engine is sweet running, starts well from cold the enrichment device works correctly. The engine oil stays clean. The original radiator has been re-cored still runs cool without any additional electric cooling fan upgrade. Fitted with a full Stainless Steel exhaust system.

Still fitted with the factory Moss gearbox 4 speed gearbox and overdrive in full working order.

Both front and rear suspension have been cleaned and painted rebuilt with new rubber bushes.

Still using the original Dunlop brake parts cylinders, these have had new seals fitted and the brake fluid changed every three years. The handbrake is very effective most unusual in standard unmodified form just maintained correctly and free.

Bodywork

All of the chrome work is in excellent order bumpers straight and unblemished. Overall the bright work is finished to a very high standard. Door handles rear lamp surrounds are all original and not re-production items in good condition.

The paintwork reflects the standards of it's 1980's restoration as I have enjoyed using the car it's very tidy and presentable but no show winner. Opalescent bronze is a difficult colour to match and the car would be enhanced with a full paint job at some-point in the future. Personally I'm happy with the paint as it shows the overall condition of the car and isn't just covering up poor repairs. Basically there's room for improvement. It's an example you can use and enjoy without being frightened to park up and walk away.

Most importantly the underside is as solid as a rock not covered in layers of old underseal like the rest of the car what you see is what you get. The box sections have been rust treated inside in my ownership.
