The perfect winter restoration or ride as is. (Price reduced).

This 1934 Triumph 5/ 1 is in good running order and is a testament to Val Page's design. The bike is in fair condition for the age having been subject to an older restoration and wouldn't take much work to return to its full glory. However, if you are a fan of the 'oily rag' classic this also fits the bill, the bike has fantastic compression and doesn't smoke.

The bike is missing some of its original features such as the reverse levers for the front brake and decompressor. The original tool box is also unfortunately missing, however a fortunate autojumble find means we have fitted a very similar period tool box (almost identical bar the closing fasteners). The Smiths clock is in working order but is in KPH. The front mudguard number plate has been removed, probably for a safety feature. Happy to consider sensible offers.

As this bike is fast approaching 100 years of age it is a good demonstration on how these bikes were built to last. These Val Page designed classic singles were designed for both solo and sidecar use. The bikes were over engineered and costly to produce, however when Edward Turner took over the design of triumph he kept the majority of the Val Page design in his initial ranges. Whilst no rocket ship I have ridden 5/ 1's on classic runs and covered many miles without any issues, often maintaining the pace of bikes 30 years its junior. Once accustomed to the hand shift the gear selection is precise and smooth and a great way to keep you alert whilst riding. These are practical and usable vintage motorcycles.
