Original unrestored 1966 Austin Mini Cooper S with Downton conversion.
Exported to California from new this car car was brought back to the UK in 2012.
The car has been subject to scrutiny and verified as a genuine matching numbers S with Downton conversion (separate report by ex Downton employee available).
Mileage is 60k and this is believed to be genuine. Mechanically recommissioned by Mini Works in Scotland and looked after by Dan Howell Classics in Bristol.
Body shell has all original panels, floors with body number on front valance which matches Heritage certificate and original floor tag is present.
Original interior with red and gold brocade seats is are fitted along with trim panels, headlining and 120 speedo.
Suspension and running gear is in remarkable condition retaining nearly all the original factory paint. The original “blue band” displacer units are fitted with single blue at the front and twin blue at the rear.
Copper S non reverse rims fitted with Yokohama tyres.
The engine and ancillaries have correct date stamps and was rebuilt by SMMC. Carbs are Downton modified H4’s with a stage 2 head.
Lightweight flywheel and ST larger dynamo pulley. Original engine spec is available and all associated works completed with receipts.
Gearbox is 333 with ST close ratio gear set.
A full flow Maniflow exhaust system is fitted.
The car comes with a thick history file and is well known to the MIni Cooper Register having previously won an award for the most original used Cooper S.
This is not an over restored car but a very original unrestored driving S that is often used in regularity rallies.
