The pictures say it all, the car has massive amounts of charm, it’s the more desirable chrome radiator model and in great running order, just had a major service and recommissioning works completed it does everything it should do. You can’t drive it down the road without a grin on your face, a smile every mile guaranteed and in the coming summer weather with the screen tilted and windows down it’s as good as any convertible.
It drives well, no untoward bangs, clangs or rattles as you travel, very steady at speed with no steering wheel wander or wag, gears select easily with a nice sharp clutch, brakes work very well (see video), very good handbrake that won’t let you pull away if you leave it on, the lights, horn, wiper all work and modern indicators have been fitted and we have checked the charging system, again see the video.
The car became available due to the sad demise of its long term collector owner, unused for some time it required a little recommissioning works, slightly down on compression the suspected head gasket has been changed (watch the video we show you the excellent condition of the bores whist undertaking the work) it now has ample and equal compression on all four cylinders and maintains excellent oil pressure on the dash gauge, hot or cold. It’s been treated to a new 6v battery, fresh oil, fresh antifreeze, a completely new ignition system (points, plugs, coil, condenser, leads & coil), all the grease points have been filled and the underside connections lubricated.
It presents well enough and will be admired wherever you go, paint finish is suited to the car, it’s not immaculate, has a little age, close inspection will find the odd blemish and imperfection, it’s smart enough to enjoy at any event or show, it’s not concours, but it’s not 15 grand either. The car is exempt from all low emission zone charges throughout the UK including London’s ULEZ.
Have some fun with your savings, you bank manager isn’t doing you any favours with your boring ISA, tick the box off your bucket list and own a vintage car, won’t be worth any less when you’ve had your enjoyment.
