KON 635 - BSA 500cc GOLD STAR Type ZB

1950 International Six Days Trial, Llandrindod Wells, Wales
The 1950 event included a team from the 31st Royal Artillery Training Regiment, riding specially built, factory prepared Gold Stars provided by Bert Perrigo.
The team included Bombardier George Brooks riding Kon 635.
Whilst his team fell by the way side in appalling conditions, Brooke’s carried on, riding brilliantly, to earn himself a Gold Medal.
These works prepared bikes were fitted with experimental oil damped units for the plunger rear springing, a conversion made by Bill Nicholson, but these were not successful and were subsequently discontinued.
After the trial, BSA agreed to sell David Mills and George Brooks the bikes they had ridden. David Mills later gained a Gold Medal on his machine in the 1952 Austrian ISDT.
This wonderful piece of English heritage comes complete with a large, hard back folder containing original historical documents, hand written bills of sale and receipts, communications with the BSA Owners Club and the Society of Automotive Historians In Britain, confirming authenticity. There are magazines, complete with articles on KON 635 , black and white photographs of the ISDT team lined up and of the previous owner proudly showing off his pride and joy with wife perched behind.
Clearly this bike has been used, loved and maintained by enthusiasts and is ready to be ridden, bar a little fettling.
