1930 Austin Seven ‘EA’ Sports (Ulster) Replica
One of the most desirable and sought-after Austin Sevens has always been the Ulster sports model, and genuine original examples are highly prized. As a result, a number of replicas have been created over the years. The official designation was Type EA Sports, but the model was to become most widely known as the Ulster in honour of the successes in the Ulster Tourist Trophy races of 1929 and 1930.
Available from April 1930 until early 1932, this model was offered in unspercharged or supercharged versions priced at £185 and £225 respectively. Approximately 300 EA models were produced.
The car offered here is built on a 1930 chassis and was completed around 2005/ 6. Fitted with the correct windscreen and touring type wings, it certainly looks the part in British Racing Green. The aluminium body and steel wings are said have been made by Roach Manufacturing and the specification includes correct style instrumentation and close ratio gearbox.
The Ulster type exhaust system is also fitted along with a ‘9E’ cylinder head and correct Solex carburettor. The hood is a good fit and a tonneau cover and hood bag are included.
