Exported new to Australia untrimmed and unpainted in November 1937, believed to be in the Sydney area, before moving to Tasmania. Here it was restored onto a new Morgan chassis shipped out from the UK in 1999. Since restoration, the car has had hardly any use, being mainly in dry storage on axle stands.
The car sports its original torquey 1122cc Coventry Climax engine and 4 speed Meadows gearbox. Restored in silver blue which suits it well, with rack and pinion steering, some modern instruments and some +4 brightwork, it returned to the UK in 2009 with the owner’s Rolls Royce. Further work was completed in 2010 at a Morgan main dealer including handbrake, new UK specification lighting and tyres.
Recent petrol tank drain, new battery and some wiring, but unfortunately it’s not starting due to no spark from the distributor. Most of the car is up together, and it would not take too long for someone to fettle a few teething problems ready for spring, but unfortunately I don’t have the time. Paintwork now showing a few areas of micro-blistering, but not too noticeable. With its new chassis, this car could be an ideal entry to VSCC events.
Good tonneau cover with middle zip. Folding windscreen and driver’s Brooklands screen. No hood or sidescreens, but I have rarely needed them over many miles in my other Morgans!
