1989 Mk1 VW Golf Clipper Cabriolet.
This has been in the same family ownership since 1990. We have SORN’d the car some time ago and it has been off road for a few years.

V5 in my name.

For the most part, this is a classic MK1 Golf Cab that has not been changed. It is in the original colour. The interior is entirely original, including the seat coverings and the steering wheel.

As far as I recall, the 100, 000 miles is correct. We have never changed the speedometer. I think the first owner put around 10, 000 miles on the car and we have done the rest. (We transferred it into our company for a while but it's back in our ownership now)

This will make a great project. When I last drove it, the car worked in all gears. It is now being sold as a car that you will need to take away on a trailer as it has stood for quite a while. It was stored in a barn for a number of years, before being trailered to the current space.

Please don’t expect to turn up and hear the engine run and then drive away. That’s not going to happen.
Despite the ground cover, it is parked on well-drained gravel and has large trees on one side that suck moisture like a teenager with a cocktail.

Panels are straight. Wheel arches are good. There is a little bit of rust on the top of the nearside rear wing and a large blister in the passenger door panel. It has the original service book.

The paint has some scratches. It will need a hood. As you can see, the manual hood works.
It comes with a wind protector and a hood cover.

It will need everything that you could imagine a car would need if it has been standing for years. (Please don’t ask me for a list. If you need a list, this isn’t the car for you). Check the last MOT. As far as I recall, the springs on the last MOT fail were replaced.
The registration number is G460 TVS.

We have kept this in the hope of restoring it and then using abroad but circumstances have changed.

To pre-empt common questions.
1. No, it is not fuel injected. It has a carb as this is a Clipper model
2. The hood is manual, not powered.
3. Would I take £500? Really? So, scammers, please plague someone else. Thx.

Happy to answer questions.
