Thank you for reading the advert for our lovely Lada Riva 1200 which has a genuine 17, 000 miles from new.
We purchased the vehicle from its current keeper (via specialist classic car auction) who had himself bought from the original owner a Lada Centre in Leeds. It still retains the original dealer decals and front and rear number plates depicting the dealer.
This was the base spec Lada Riva at the time fitted with the 1200 chain driven engine producing a healthy 67bhp and top speed of 90mph.
When he purchased the vehicle he carried out a light re commission including professionally having the whole car Dinitrol treated, including box sections, sills, floor and suspension.
Wing liners were fitted to project the very original front wings. Some very sympathetic paintwork was done to the inside bonnet and boot edges, including 2 doors due to a relatively poor paint finish. Due to the bland appearance he had the graphics replicated from the importers brochure. We think this sets the car off beautifully.
The wheels have been powder coated with new center caps which still look as new. The interior has the lovely chocolate brown seats which are in perfect condition as are the door cards and carpet. The original owner touched in the gutters on the roof for some reason which have been left for originality.
For a Riva this car is in a near original condition clearly been stored for a while as not many are left. Is it perfect? No but was it ever? How does the song go "I love your perfect imperfections".
Definitely a car that can be loved and cherished and dare we say improved over time. A fantastic base to start an easy winter tinkering project.
The Riva has been on display twice at the classic NEC in Birmingham and been on numerous Eastern bloc tours around the UK.
This is one of only a handful of original Lada Rivas left and deserves to be taken to shows and enjoyed.
The car has just been serviced; fitting a new clutch slave, clutch master and brake master followed by an oil change.
The tyres are all new. He recently fitted an electronic distributor which makes the car more user friendly. The car has been dry stored inside its entire life.
It has some very rare headlight protectors with the LADA graphic, these are UK spec and from the importers at the time.
Current V5 present. Paperwork includes a Lada wallet containing owner's manuals, a body service book containing 2 stamps, a service book containing 2 stamps and 4 written stamps, MOT certificates, LADA Cars press information, SALT Tenth Glorious Tour 2016 route information, SALT access lanyard and sun strip, LADA cars promotional material, RIVA Range promotional material, an Autodata repair manual, a Tockwith & District Show 2nd in show ribbon, and some invoices for parts and work carried out.
