This is a nice restored example of the sports 350cc Sunbeam motorcycle made in 1927 in Wolverhampton by John Marston & Co. It still carries it’s original registration (I have a copy) and doesn’t require an MOT being an Historic Vehicle in the UK.
This was Sunbeam’s last year of flat petrol tanks and first year of wired-on tyres, so it’s a reliable vintage machine with a lively performance combined with civilised features which Sunbeam were famous for in their day, truly a gentleman’s motor bicycle in its sober black and gold livery.
I bought it as a 70th birthday present three years ago from an advert on this website, so now I have to sell it because of my declining health, I decided this would be the best place to advertise it. As a vintage bike owner for over fifty years, I knew Sunbeams had a reputation as excellent machines, which made this a ‘must have’ when I saw it advertised. I have done many rallies, rides and events and it remains a favourite wherever I go. I have not been disappointed. Although it is smart, it is by no means concours, and it has original finish on the tank which helps to encourage riding rather than polishing. In my first few months of ownership, I rectified a few tiny problems and the spares situation and technical support is excellent thanks to the Marston Sunbeam Club & Register which made me very welcome as a newcomer to Sunbeam ownership.

It was restored by a well known vintagent over two decades ago, and was passed on to his best friend when he died just over ten years ago, and I bought from his friend who had acquired it. It starts first kick, is light to handle which suits an older rider, and I can recommend it to someone wanting a bike to ride in vintage events.
