She's a 1987 Toyota MR2 MK1 supercharger 1. 6 4A-GZE, with the desirable (borderline essential!) 5 speed manual gearbox. Showing just 106, 000 kms (66, 000 miles), since arrival has been looked after by a high end dealership in Fulham showing 3 services in that time, and a fresh MOT with no advisories which runs until January 2025. Extremely clean as she has only been on these shores for 1 year and in the hands of just the 1 UK keeper. Due to not being over here very long the underside is in very good order, nothing untoward to report whatsoever, the rear arches are solid and as you can see from the photos, more than looks the part.
To drive? Breathtaking. Every time you get in this MR2 you feel a sense of occasion, you feel special. The added torque of the supercharger means the MR2 pulls low down in every gear. No need to constantly whip up and down the gearbox trying to keep the engine 'on song', she simply pulls and wants to go all the time which makes for an all round rewarding drive, but doesn't take away the raspy engine note and enthusiasm high up the rev range. The clutch and gearbox are a joy to work with, very slick and precise, the steering is sharp with excellent feedback, it lets you know exactly where you are at all times and is so rewarding to drive. The Tein adjustable coil overs are not harsh at all, in fact they heighten the driving sensation without ruining the ride like many of the cheap coil over set ups.
The bodywork is so clean and straight, nothing nasty or untoward to report whatsoever. Obviously some minor imperfections here and there to be expected from a classic car, but I think you'll be hard pressed to find a better example around this price point. The bright gloss white paintwork really shines in the sun, the contrasting bronze Rays engineering volk TE37 cups work really well, as does the aftermarket front bumper. I've not seen one look the way this one does, all the little touches tie in so nicely together and really stand out among the standard examples.
