V5c in my name

I rescued this lovely machine from a 50 year slumber. It had been laid up in 1972 in a dry garage due to an ignition fault and never saw the light of day again till last year. It has had a thorough sympathetic restore and is now a fully roadworthy machine. As you can see, it has some interesting features & tuning tweaks.
It’s clean, has nice patina and the engine is a peach.
A tickle of the carbs and it’ll start first kick which soon settles into a smooth tickover. Acceleration can be described as “lively”
The genuine John Tickle T/ L/ S front brake is not only a work of art it’s also progressive and powerful. The underseat brackets rest on neoprene rubber pads, and with Skak-De-La softie grips vibration to the rider is kept to a minimum.
The tacho & speedo have both been professionally reconditioned.
The carbs are the original factory fitted twin reverse-float-bowl Monobloc’s which have been rebuilt, calibrated, & synchronised. The original air filter box has been replaced with two separate filters which are far easier to remove (and refit) when synchronising or adjusting the carbs.
There’s no wet sumping, courtesy of the RGM spring/ ball valve.
Clutch has been reconditioned with new cush rubbers.
A new alternator rotor has just been fitted and the rotor/ stator air gap is an average of 0. 009”.
The original chrome levers (which you can have with the bike) have been replaced with polished alloy dog-leg levers which are a vast improvement.
Handling is superb, courtesy of the Slimline Featherbed frame, reconditioned Roadholder forks, tapered roller headstock bearings, Hagon rear shocks and Avon Roadrider tyres.
The fuel tank is clean and rust free internally and is clad in a genuine 60’s custom leatherette tank cover which in itself is a very hard item to source these days and the satin black paintwork on the oil tank, battery cover and primary chaincase finish it off nicely.
Aftermarket indicators have been fitted to make life a bit easier on todays congested roads.
All in all, a well sorted classic British vertical twin that goes really well and is a hell of a lot of fun to ride, and with those siamese pipes and reverse cone mega belting out music behind you you’ll be grinning all the way to the pub & back.
It also comes with a cherished number plate, itself worth a grand or so.
