The Beetle has been used infrequently, but regularly, so the technology is always as good as new. Kept in good condition.
"We think the last Beetle deserves special equipment", wrote Volkswagen's advertising copy in a 1985 advert. VW produced 3, 150 examples of the "50th Anniversary Beetle", 2, 400 of which were destined for the German market alone. It was a break in the automotive life of the Germans, who had learnt to travel with and in the Beetle, and according to rumours, to love it too, because after officially 50 years, Volkswagen stopped production.
