Now, no doubt, if you are reading this, you are very aware of what you are looking at, and possibly know these cars inside out. From a personal point of view, these cars hold a very strong place in our heart for us personally, and we have dealt and owned many over the years

This example was registered on the 9th August 1991 - making this car a legitimate classic at 33 years old! it is finished in the very popular (and now exceedingly rare) Silk violet , as well as having the desirable dark rainbow interior. To put it in perspective, at the time of writing there are 88 registered 16vs on the road . With the originality and spec of this, the enthusiasts among us know that you are looking at an increasingly “unicorn” car

The current vendor has owned the vehicle for the last 12 years. In that time, it has been used extremely infrequently , with the majority of the time being kept in the garage or for the last few years in storage

it has recently been subject to some paintwork and detailing, and it presents extremely well.
As with all cars of this age, that go through a life cycle, with a few owners, the car does have a story. Firstly , the vehicle was very sadly registered as a category C. This was now 18 years ago! … so we have very little data as to what the insurers saw or inspected, but please bare in mind, the value of this vehicle was a lot lower in 2006, and even a small value of repairs would cause an insurer to “write off” a vehicle. The clocks have also had a change, as well as some incorrect inputting into the MOT system, which means the vehicle does show mileage discrepancies. There is history and paperwork to back up and explain the majority of this, but please do take this into account as well as understanding the age and history of vehicles of this type. We prefer to be extremely transparent and open about any vehicle. Fortunately, the car also has a lot of redeeming qualities, which are rarely found with a 1980s hot hatch.

Let’s talk about the good - to which there is A LOT. Firstly, the general condition. There is no noticeable corrosion or issues with arches or sills, and the roof is also in very good condition. The underside is solid although it does show some signs of corrosion as highlighted on advisory on the most recent MOT- I mean , it’s 33 years old and hasn’t been restored, so this is to be expected . It runs extremely well, with a beautiful XE engine , and no faults at the time of inspection. Secondly it is finished in silk violet, its paint shining bright, and all trims are present and correct and in exceptional order including vinyls, tow eye cover and skirts. The interior present very well for its again. Again. COMPLETE AND ORIGINAL, with dash, check control, glove box, door cards and trims all in great condition. Even the parcel shelf is complete

In summary, a truly lovely car, that despite its historic story, still presents a very desirable package. An original, standard car, in a beautiful and super rare spec that I don’t think will be repeated in a hurry.
with all this in mind, a vehicle like this with a totally clean title, and unblemished history would fetch in our opinion closer to £20k , with 2 particular examples known to have changed hands in the past 24months at these sort of figures. We have set this price at considerably less than this . With a recent example as a category D, in a lesser spec and condition having changed hands close to this asking price
