Great roadworthy runner on which I’ve have spent time and money servicing and replacing tired and bodged components. Bike starts easily, runs great and handles very well indeed. The odometer shows about 7500 miles, I do not believe this to be accurate.
Full Service
All fluids changed: engine, gearbox, forks, hydraulics, and OIF filter cleaned; new service gaskets, seals and O-rings as required. Valve clearances timing set and primary chain adjusted, new genuine Amal Carburettors installed, setup and balanced with new cables. New sparkplugs.
Ignition
Bike runs a Wassell Electronic Ignition system and has a MotoBatt battery (new 2018).
Transmission
New kick-start axle and gearbox main-shaft, cotter-pin and oil seals, primary chain adjusted and new drive chain and clutch cable fitted. The kickstart has been very carefully ‘indexed’ and setup.
Chassis
New Western Handlebars and anti-vibration rubbers/ assembly.
New sump-plate studs, gaskets, nuts and washers.
Brake system
Front: New Master cylinder, black nylon finished stainless front brake pipe, brake-calliper, pads and fluid. Rear: New pads and fluid.
Wheels and Tyres
Front Wheel chrome ok-ish with virtually brand-new Michelin Pilot Activ tyre. Rear Wheel is solid but chrome is very poor, new-ish Mitas tyre. Were I keeping the bike I'd fit a new matched set of Avon Roadriders.
Cosmetics
The bike polishes up quite well, frame paint is good and the tank is OK with a bit of paint curling up around the filler cap - due to modern petrol I guess? Exhaust downpipes are ok, silencers have a few dings. Remember this bike is over forty years old.
