Lambretta SX 150, year 1966 with a full nut and bolt restoration. The scooter was brought over from Italy in 2022 and was chosen by me to restore, as it was totally original and not messed around with prior to the work being undertaken. It has covered 13, 540 KM’s since its manufacture in 1966. Please note I have put an MPH speedo transfer on the face.
The bike has been totally stripped down and rebuilt. The engine was taken apart and sent away to be vapour blasted; the barrels were rebored to two over by TASS Scooters. I did not want to go down the route of big bore kits, hence why it just . 2mm over standard. I replaced the crank shaft with a standard Mazzuccelli and replaced every bearing, bushes, shims, and seal within the engine. But kept the engine cases, barrel, and head original.
The gear box was completely rebuilt, and everything renewed with the exception of the original clutch basket and gears. This included new clutch plates, kick start shaft, piston, seals and bushes.
Sticking with the factory correct scooter, I have left this as a 6 volt AC no battery bike. The Flywheel has been remagnetised by the scooter surgery, with probably the last bit of kit around to do this type of work.
It as a refurbished Ducati 6 pole 6-volt stator and points all factory correct. The only change is a voltage regulator that was added to control the AC Amps. This is hidden in the wheel arch. The horn is also original. Headlight original and wiring connection. New wiring loom.
I tried to stick with the factory Dell’Orto Carb but after rebuilding with new jets, needle and float it was not performing as it should. So, I have replaced this with a new carburettor, which is much better.
Original seat with a CASA Lambretta cover with the Innocenti logo on the rear. I replaced the wheel rims both front and rear but did keep an original for the spare that is mounted on a Cuppini Luggage and seat rack.
Forks rebuilt, new springs, buffers, etc.
Every part of the frame, tank, mudguards cowlings etc are all original with only the part to be replaced was the splash guard under the bike, which was beyond repair. With the paintwork being such an important part of the restoration, I spent £2, 300 having this bike painted by a scooter specialist in Cambridge. The wheels are the factory silver, same with the white. The exception being the blue which was my preference.
The aluminium controls clutch lever, gear change brake levers, floor mat mounts etc are original. The SX emblems and flashes have been replaced with CASA Lambretta emblems.
I have been restoring motorcycles for many years and now this is complete. I am only selling to create room for the next motorcycle. Please come and view this Lambretta, as I am sure you will agree is as good a condition as it left the factory. No offers please, come and see the bike and you will understand why.
