1970 Husqvarna 250 Cross Project.
Frame # MH14XX
Engine # 2513XX
This is an early 1970 Husqvarna 4 speed 250 round case model. It would have had a Motoplat ignition, Bing carb, and steel rear mudguard.
After acquiring the core motorcycle about 10 years ago I have been collecting parts and have reached a point where I realise I am never going to get around to finishing this as I have too many other projects.
All of the parts in the photo are correct for this year and this model Husqvarna. All the parts can be restored. There are no toasted or junk parts. Nothing is cracked or broken.
The seat base has surface rust and evidence of an earlier repair, the frame has a small tidy repair on of the seat tubes (last photo), the engine crank needs to be rebuilt (rod seized), the rear mudguard is aluminum when it should be steel.
Some of the parts are new reproduction but most are original requiring plating, painting or other finishing work. Highlights include:
- A set of correct length and good condition Girling rear shocks (no rust on shafts, good action, NOS Girling springs, new chrome shock covers.
- Frame is straight, engine cases are unmolested, matched early pair without cracks or breaks
- Engine internals (bottom end) are all there but needs skilled person to put together
- Correct and good condition front forks (good chrome)
- Correct and good condition fuel tank. There are some dents but most are away from the exposed chrome knee area. There are some clever people out there that can de dent and restore these.
- Complete set of front and rear wheels requiring rebuild (front wheel has the wrong rim but the correct rim is included with the project
The motorcycle needs the following parts to complete (they are not included in the sale):
- Cylinder and Piston
- Airbell/ box, inlet manifold, carb
- Exhaust pipe
- Clutch plates
- Ignition flywheel and stator plate
- Front brake plate (small)
- Rear wheel sprocket
- Most nuts and bolts missing
If you require further info including details of specific parts please message and I will do my best to provide the info or I can take additional photos if necessary.
Imported from USA to UK around 2008. Then moved with me to Spain around 2017.
Over the years I have done a lot of the hard work in just replacing some of the original parts or else adding correct parts. I have run out of steam on it and have too many other things on the go.
An enjoyable and rewarding project for someone with the time and inclination.
