This mini was first registered 30th November 1989. It has an exceptionally lively original 998 engine. It was first restored by Mini Bitz in 2017 to a high standard. This included a complete strip down and repaint with far too many new parts to possibly and as such are all receipted. However, I was not happy with the quality of the restoration, and so in November 2022 to April 2023 it was fully restored again. This time it received many new panels including right and left wings, scuttle panel, front panel, bonnet, A panels, door frames, door skins, and rear panel. It has been fully sound proofed with silent mat. The engine was also re-built during this time and received many parts including pistons, piston rings, big end bearing set, water pump, and thermostat. In my ownership it has received, New reproduction original headlining and sun visors The windscreen, driver and passenger door glass, rear windscreen, and rear glass (both sides) has been replaced along with all seals and trim. This includes door and boot seals. Other parts replaced include brake callipers, Brembo pads, walnut three dial dash, electronic ignition, chrome door handles, boot handle and locks. Front indicators, side repeaters, chrome number plate light, pocket liners, new custom-made original style decals, and original style black grill. It also features a custom boot lining kit. During the restoration it received a full respray including the roof. The engine and gearbox were removed, and the clutch and gearbox were reconditioned and received new synchro hub springs and bearings, second gear, gearbox casing, clutch arm, ¾ selector fork many bearings, shims, seals, and lots of other parts all receipted. It has been wax-oiled and is stored in a heated and insulated garage. This particular mini doesn’t get to see rain, which explains why it hasn’t managed to do more than 700 miles per year for the past several years. It has a MOT until the end of October 2024 and currently has 24, 486 original miles on the clock (this may increase if the weather stays good). This mini has been restored to an exceptional standard by industry professionals, this is not a DIY restoration that hides many problems. It holds its original registration plate currently valued at £400. I am afraid to total my total spend on this Mini (in case my wife finds out!) it is certainly in double figures and has a substantial folder of receipts. This is a beautiful example of an original Mini Flame Red which are becoming harder to find, certainly in a turn the key and go state.
