1952 Daimler DB18 Barker Special Sports
Sadly, I no longer have space for this stunning example of a Daimler variant. If you want a Special Sports, this is probably the best you’ll find. Originally exported to New Zealand she was re-imported in excellent condition but was nevertheless subjected to an amazing and uncompromising restoration.
A marque much favoured by the royal families around the world, including our own (the late queen got a convertible DB18 for her 21st birthday, from the king). Arguably the most elegant Daimler since the pre-war Double Six and with only 1, 500 miles since the restoration work was done, the car has been prepared to an exemplary standard.
Unlike, many Barker SS cars this example drives extremely well with relatively light and positive steering and good brakes. Unfortunately, due to other commitments, I have not been able to drive the car a great deal and it should now go to an enthusiastic owner who will put a few miles on the clock.
She comes with a stack of history and many photographs of the restoration as well as a trophy or two. She is ready for long distance touring or just attending shows and winning prizes.
Exported new to New Zealand. Repatriated in 2011. Full body off chassis restoration with full photographic evidence.
