1965 Volkswagen Splitscreen 21

I am regrettably selling this outstanding classic split screen due to family growth. it was made in 1964 and retested in 1965
I have had the vehicle for 12 years and got many happy memories in it. Please read through the following details...

Originally a panel van and I decided to keep it that way rather than cutting holes in it for windows.. The interior has a sink and a grill which both work. The whole back has been insulated with lambs wool and boarded over then felted. It has a a pull out rock and roll bed which is really comfortable. All the cushions are custom made out of period material.

panel work has been carried out a few years back comprising of a new front panel, both drivers and passenger door bottoms, both side door bottoms, rear door reskinned all panels were waxoiled inside at time of fitting. a full respray was carried out at the time which is showing very slight signs of blemishes in a couple of places which is very minor. And doesn't detract from the solid vehicle that it is.
Underneath is due rewaxoiling but I've purposely left it to show just how solid the underside is. Only slight rust starting to come through on one chassis outrigger.
Very few of this age will be anywhere close to being as solid as this.

The engine is a 1746 with a twin choke dellorto down draught. It provides plenty of power and will happily cruise at 55 - 60 all day long. Just carried out an engine service so it's ready to go.

The front end is an early Bay adjustable beam so height can be set as you desire. Running disc brakes so good dependable stopping power when needed.

Bad points fuel gauge only reads half when the tank is full.
And the stereo have given up the ghost but has power to it.

I think you'll be hard pressed to find another more solid and reliable vehicle of this age.
