At the recommendation of Porsche's US importer, Max Hoffman, the 356 Speedster brought a lower-cost alternative to the rather expensive Cabriolet. With a distinctive lowered windshield and a fairly spartan interior, the Speedster was the perfect choice for driving enthusiasts and would-be racers. The car proved to be exactly what the company needed to increase sales, and the style quickly became legendary.
With such an enduring legacy, it was natural that various companies have created replicas of the model.
