1994 MG RV8

This MG RV8:

This is chassis no. 0368 which I believe to be the 117th RV8 built. First registered on the 1st of January 1994 to A. Norman Jenkins of Ramsgate, South East England. The specification of the car was Solid Black over a Stone Beige full leather interior by Connolly. It’s original Reg number was L77MGR which is now on a Woodcote green car.

By 1999, with a recorded mileage of approximately 5000 miles sir P. J. Kenyon of Hatfield took custodianship over the car. He would evidently drive the RV8 very sparingly as period MOT reports indicate about 7000 miles on the odometer by 2002, when the RV8 would be acquired by its 3rd owner who would import it to the Netherlands via renowned MG experts Brown & Gammons LTD. Before leaving the UK the MGR number plate was retained and L210NNK was applied. The Dutch owner would go on to cherish the RV8 for almost 2 decades and would ramp up the mileage to just under 35, 800, that’s less than 1500 a year. All the dutch records are present with the car to verify the mileage. In early 2022 the car was sold to Garage Maastricht who serviced the car and put it on the market which is where I first saw the car.

I enquired about purchasing as I had always wanted a black RV8 having owned and Oxford Blue and Woodcote green car before. In 20 years of looking I have never seen a black one for sale in the UK. However I missed the opportunity as it sold almost immediately to a new Dutch Owner. As luck would have it the new Dutch Owner’s circumstances changed and later on the year Garage Maastricht once again put the car up for sale, I didn’t hesitate this time in bringing the car back to home, all duties were paid and I asked the best person I could to check the car over, which Steve Newton duly did. With a fresh MOT and a clean bill of health chassis 368 hit the UK roads once again.

I have had the car fully detailed by a specialist and it presents itself in utterly stunning condition with its original brightwork, lights, lenses and glass, all being factory features as is the (unscuffed!) upholstery, carpets, dashboard and soft-top. Beneath the Black exterior resides the original, engine and gearbox. The car has clearly been cared for as it drives beautifully with that Rover V8 pulling a treat with the shedloads of torque it has to offer from very low down in the rev range and the gearbox shifting as precise as it would have done in 1994.

The original accessories, equipment and literature are still present. Original and complete tool roll, spare wheel, jack, hood cover with storage bag and frame as well as 2 sets of original keys. The documentation is extensive too; original owner’s handbook, service record, original RV8 brochure as well as some period MOT, insurance and registration records.

Ready for sale I will have MOT and Service done and ensure everything is in tip top condition.
