I'm posting my LHD 1964 Notchback 1500S for sale, straight from hot and sunny Portugal.

BODY/ EXTERIOR: The car was all stripped from mechanical parts, interior, glasses and all accessories. It had seen some respray somewhere in time (probably in the mid 80's), and as I didn't want a full restoration project I just kept the colour and it underwent some light polishing keeping some patina, as it has a few small defects (paint cracks), bumpers were also lightly polished to go ahead with the look (good looking light patina/ unrestored).
2 NEW half floorpans were fitted by a professional workshop.
ALL RUBBERS/ SEALS ARE NEW, either from Germany or ISP West in the USA, as all chrome trimming inside and out.
All badges and logos are present.
The car has stock pop out rear windows, in good working condition.
Aluminium Roof Rack goes with the car, this is not a specific Type3 item, rather an adapted one that easily goes on/ off with no tools needed.

ENGINE: Went under a full rebuild, having all round new bearings/ caps/ rings etc. At the time the crankshaft was changed (keeping the 69 stroke) just for the purpose of converting to 12V flywheel , the stock camshaft and domed pistons were used with new rings.
New German clutch and disc from LUK was fitted.
The 2 original SOLEX PICT 32 carbs were also rebuilt, a 12V Bosch Blue coil is fitted with the stock refurbished vacuum Distributor.
Cooling fan housing was changed to cope with the 12V dynamo.
All heating boxes were painted and are present in working order.
All tins were powder coated in medium gloss black. Exhaust is a 1600TL with a NOS silencer pipe. Engine pulls healthy and strongly up to 160Km/ h.

MECHANICAL: Original single master cylinder was swapped to a NEW dual circuit one, along with the brake fluid reservoir. Both front and rear axles were removed cleaned and refurbished, fitting new brakes and pipes all round. The 4 front cylinders are NOS items (from Germany), and 2 rear are new from ISP. Gearbox and axles were cleaned, and new rubber gaiters were fitted. Suspension got new rubbers all round and is lowered one notch at the back and 3 notches at front. It has 4 new gas shocks. Stock fuel tank was chemicaly treated and sealed inside. Original shifter was fitted with a short throw kit.

INTERIOR: Dashboard was perfect and crack free, so was painted brown to go along with the theme. Front seats were stripped and the frames were zinc plated, they feature TMI padding, trimming was done at a local upholstery shop, as well as the door panels, carpets and headliner.
4 new seatbelts were fitted with Wolfsburg logo and colour coded with the interior, 2 point at front and 3 point at the rear.
All dashboard switches, levers and cables were restored and work perfectly, both for the fresh air-cooling boxes, and heating system.
The lever and cable system that automatically unlocks the front seat back when the door is open (to allow passengers to enter the back seat) was fully restored and works perfectly.
Steering wheel is a 3 spoke Nardi period item which I bought used (it came from an old Alfa Romeo) and just slightly polished it before coupling with the new chrome Wolfsburg centre and horn assembly. The wooden lining of the steering wheel was not refurbished, it is as it came. Stock steering wheel is stored and available.

ELECTRICAL: Electrical system was redone with new cables and connectors, additional items such as relays were added for the extra front lights and hazard lights.
The radio is a Blaupunkt period item, it works nicely and was modified to allow an AUX source via 3, 5mm plug (which you can connect to your Smartphone or MP3), the radio support/ panel is model specific rare Type3 part. There is a single oval Alpine speaker fitted underneath the dashboard in it’s original location.

WHEELS: Car has 2 sets of wheels and both are included.
4 pieces BRM’s 15" 5 lug with 175/ 65 tyres at the back and 145/ 65 at the front.
5 pieces original 15" 5 lug steel wheels (one for spare tyre), these were cleaned and painted black stock chrome wheel trim and centre caps were lightly polished tyres are 165/ 80 (stock diameter).

GENERAL:
All bolts were changed for new inox items were possible.
All other metallic parts (latches, plates, etc.) were zinc plated.

Car was originally sold new here in Portugal in August 64, and I believe I'm the 4th owner. It features its stock rebuilt engine with its original dual carb setup.
This was a barn find that I bought back in 2010, it was pretty much complete, but it had the floor pans rotted, the original interior was not salvable, side chrome trim had been removed, and the paint was stained, as it was sitting for nearly 20 years in a warehouse uncovered.
Except for the body/ paint that was just lightly polished, everything else (mechanical, electrical and interiors) was stripped and completely restored using NEW or NOS parts where available. At the time it was converted to 12V.

This is a very good, honest and reliable car that is in fantastic mechanical shape and fully operational, the looks are good with light patina (has some paint cracks) as it never pretended to look like a fully painted/ restored/ show car. Have loads of photos from before, during and after process, that will provide to the new owner.
The car has seen only 5. 000 Km(8K miles) since the rebuild, that was for the past 8 years, mechanically it is as new, you just have to turn the key and enjoy the ride.
