Launched in 1987 the Brat was an overnight worldwide success for Subaru known in the UK as the ‘284’. It was the success of the BRAT which paved the way for the brand in rural areas, offering a purposeful, well-thought-out alternative in an established marketplace. These little trucks are capable of some serious off-roading due to the punchy revised 1. 8 engine and dual range transfer case.
The Brat was a Japanese scaling down of the El Camino and Ranchero, with one being owned and used by Ronald Reagan!
The so-called ‘BRAT’ (which stood for Bi-drive Recreational All-terrain Transporter), Subaru’s pickup was marketed as the 284 model in the UK.
This car features its original colour scheme of blue paintwork with exterior graphics and a grey vinyl and houndstooth cloth interior.
Equipped with rear mudflaps, a tow ball with electric hook-up, plus an under-bonnet spare wheel.
