BSA A65 Spitfire Hornet Special.
Originally sold in 1965 as a US West Coast Spitfire Hornet desert racer, this 650cc BSA is now equipped with a Spitfire type alloy tank, a Lightning Clubman seat and flat bars, which gives it more of a cafe racer character. Original Hornet tank and fork shrouds included. See last pic of this bike in Hornet guise.
It has the high-spec Hornet twin-carb engine (same as Spitfire) and retains the correct close ratio gearbox, Amal Monobloc carbs, and high level exhausts. It also has the Hornet folding footrests, Amal alloy handlebar levers, single sided quick-release rear wheel, and chrome mudguards and stays. The wheels are equipped with flanged alloy rims.
It has had a full rewire with 12v charging system and electronic ignition neatly installed.
It is in fine condition and it starts, stops and goes very well.
Not for the rivet-counters or purists perhaps, but if you want a great-looking sporty BSA 650 with plenty of character, it's definitely worth a look.
Genuine sale. Possible part exchange with something classic and/ or interesting.
