Description

NOW RESERVED FOR NEW OWNER

Motodrome are very pleased to offer this remarkable 1970 Triumph Herald 13/ 60 Convertible.

A genuine factory convertible, not a conversion from a saloon, as evinced by the CV-suffix chassis number.

Remarkable in that it was restored over a 5 year period 1997-2002, and over two decades later still passes muster as an excellent example, which is a testament to the quality of the rebuild in my opinion .

We’re told by the chap who restored it (who came to see it in our showroom) that it underwent a full chassis-up rebuild, with almost all the chassis outriggers, the floorpans, half the boot floor, all 4 wings, the front panel, both sills, both front and rear valances, and all 4 inner wheelarches replaced, followed by a decent respray in the original colour, in cellulose.

Mechanically the engine was rebuilt, a recon gearbox fitted, and the diff rebuilt too

The chassis and underside were also repainted in body colour, and apparently the notoriously difficult panel gaps took over a month of fettling to get right, and they still stand up today.

He’s given us a full photographic record of the restoration to us of over 100 photos and these can be seen on our website.

it just seems to have been loved and cherished since, and still sports it’s original panel gaps and body coloured chassis and underside, and still has the original dealer plate on the drivers door thresher.

Standard specification with the exception of: twin carburettors with K&N air filters,, 4-branch exhaust, a mohair hood, electronic ignition, Vitesse bumper trims, and a woodrim steering wheel, although we have the original wheel.

Odometer reading 93000 miles, and it’s had just 2 owners in the last 22 years, with the last owner having had it, and kept it garaged, since 2011.

History wise it comes with a selection of bills from the last owner, original handbook, and a workshop manual.

Recent history highlights include new starter motor, brake and clutch master cylinders, new seat foams and diaphragms, and new gearlever springs and bushes.

I don’t think I’ve seen a nicer Herald. It’s lovely, and drives really nicely as well, without going down the road with loads of rattles as they often do.

It’s road tax, MOT, and ULEZ exempt, and ideal for summer.
On our own website, you’ll find our usual two videos, a comprehensive walkaround and driving impressions, which form part of the description.
