Description
This is our very original 1962 Triumph Herald 1200.
It has no parts missing, and as it stands, needs no work prior to taking it out on the road. As such we use it at least weekly subject to weather and it drives very well for a car of its age.
It is generally in very good condition and looks good due to the standard of the interior, the paint work, which whilst not perfect has very deep shiny colours and the lack of any apparent damage. Everything works pretty much as it should except the interior light (the bulb wont stay in place)
The vehicle is registered as historic so no mot or tax are required.
We have records of work scince 2019
MOTs from 2008 to 2014.
The car has clearly had an extensive restoration at some point as it has a galvanised chassis, new looking interior seats and carpets and very deep shiny paintwork.
We can tell from the MOT's that it has done about 4500 miles since 2008, and 3500 miles since 2014.
The current mileage is showing around 7500 miles though I have never considered this to be genuine!
Elements of the car that are not original include:
The galvanised chassis.
The Stainless steel exhaust. Fitted March 2021.
The carburettor which is now a Webber.
The front brakes that have been converted to disk. 2019.
The car has been fully serviced over the last 1000 miles, and other works over the last 3000 miles include:
New front brake pads
Master cylinder reconditioned
New rear wheel brake cylinders
Rocker cover gasket
Ignition leads
New alternator
Rear wheel bearings
Trailing arm bushes to rear
Rear drive shaft u joints and rear trunnion kit.
New fuel pump
new timing chain, tensioner and sprokets
New battery.
Its a lovely little car which drives well and attracts attention when out and about.
