History: Cadillac gave Pininfarina a shed load of money to build a new factory for the Allante. When completed, 56 at a time were loaded onto a cargo Boeing 747 and flown to Detroit to have the engine and autobox fitted. Unsurprisingly, this put $6000 on each car, making it Cadillac's most expensive car of the day. In fact, you could buy two Cadillac Savilles for the price of an Allante.
