SWB early series 2, used very regularly as she has been very reliable. Sensible modifications such as Weber carb and seat belts. She works every weekend on the woodland as she is one of the best off road vehicles ever!
In my 12 years of ownership she has had a new galvanised chassis, new radiator, fuel pump, brakes, steering box (plus heavy duty off road steering rods). Parabolic springs and bushes and countless other little things.
She has 4 new tyres with reconditioned 5. 5” wheels although I still have the original 5” with skinny crossply tyres too.
She has a quirky PTO on the gearbox which, when selected, can drive a forward and side propshaft. I have never seen one like it and never used it but someone will have fun with it.
She will now need work on the bulkhead and possibly the axles although these are OK for now. The engine is as leaky as they all seem to be but starts on the button, runs smoothly and pulls well with a bit of smoke on start up which clears quickly.
She has series 3 door hinges and mirrors although I have a set of original NATO series 2 ones with the circular mirrors available separately.
I also have a cab top and a Fairey overdrive box, both available separately.
The series 2 is such a character, the best looking and still useable. No MOT to worry about and zero tax!!!
I love the rear catflap with original stays and the fact that I can unbolt it and either go topless in the fine weather or fit my truck cab if I need a pickup.
Many years tooling over to the woodland with my sons and their mates in the back ready for a weekend of camping, then the next week filling her with logs ready for the winter. Off road she is amazing and I have enjoyed putting my mate's 4x4 to shame. Only ill health is forcing me to sell her and pass her on to someone who can maybe enjoy her as she is or take her to the next level.
