Description

Nothing ages better than an old Mercedes Benz - And our Signal Red W115 is the proof! A striking, usable and economical classic that is at home at a show as it is out on the road!

Exterior

Extremely presentable exterior - A bright ‘Mercedes Signal Red’ makes this 220D really catch the eye. With colour coded hub caps and brightwork in great condition, the car looks fantastic. Some blistering exists, along the top of the near side rear shoulder lines of the vehicle, and on the off side front wing there is what looks to be a paint reaction, but neither of these distract from the presence and overall condition of the car, which is in great usable condition.

Interior

Black interior, in exceptional condition - Dash, steering wheel and seats all look fantastic. The seats are like armchairs and quite possibly the most comfortable I’ve ever sat in! All clocks work as they should, along with the stereo, lights and electrics. The previous owner advised the heater doesn’t work, but this will be a car for a sunny day!

Mechanical

As expected, the 220D is as robust as they come - Also used in the Unimog, the motor and drivetrain in this car will run forever! Everything works exactly as it should, and it cruises along with ease and comfort (Along with great economy!). The 4 speed gearbox is direct and reassuring, with no unwanted noises. We drove this car from Durham to Scotland with no problems whatsoever - It was smooth, easy to drive and attracted a huge amount of attention! The car currently stands at 94, 900 miles, a low mileage given the age and drivetrain.

Airlift air suspension has been professionally fitted to the car at an expense of £3, 500, absolutely transforming the aesthetic - While the ride height can be manually controlled using the Airlift controller in the vehicle, you can also select between 3 pre-sets (Low, Ride, High) on the go.

History

While the recent history does seem to be lacking, I’ve been assured that it was recently serviced, and many other invoices and paperwork are present with the car, along with an original internal Mercedes sales bulleting relating to the launch of the W115. All paperwork regarding the air suspension is also present for the new owner.

The Mercedes is registered as a historic vehicle and therefor tax and MOT exempt.
