An exceptionally good and well maintained Mercedes W123. It had a full engine rebuild less than 10, 000 miles ago and a body restoration and repaint in 2022. Recent works also include a new radiator, front and rear brake callipers and discs, steering joints and a new exhaust.
This particular 230E drives incredibly well and while the odometer may say 163, 000 miles, the engine was fully rebuilt less than 10, 000 miles ago, at a cost of almost €4, 000. The engine is absolutely smooth on start up and delivers much better performance than high miles engines. The automatic transmission changes gears effortlessly and the suspension soaks up everything Irish roads throw at it.
The body was restored in 2022 with new inner and outer rear wheel arches and any other corrosion cut out and replaced with new metal. The car was then repainted in the correct Astral Silver and new tyres fitted all round.
The interior really does showcase the high quality that Mercedes of this era were famous for. Electric windows all round and a sunroof and all instruments and electrics work as they should. The original seats are still well sprung and supportive, perfect carpets, wood trim and dashboard.
It may be an overused expression but this car really was built to last and is the ideal everyday classic car.
