Hello, I'm selling my 1986 Peugeot 205 XR. It's a phase 1, fitted with the XY7 engine, a 1. 3L 60bhp petrol, the same as the one used in the Peugeot 104. The vehicle registration document is in my name, the MOT is 6 months old (favourable), the next one will be in September 2029, and the car has a collector's registration document. I'm selling it because I don't have the time to use it any more, as the car is at my mum's, so I can't use it... The car is in good general condition. Of course, it's nearly 40 years old, so it's not perfect, but it runs and I use it from time to time for short distances. I've never driven a long distance, just short trips. I've never had any problems with it, and I've always done all the maintenance and odd jobs myself. New parts: fuel pump, speedo cable, 2 universal joints, crankshaft pulley spi gasket, 2 steering knuckles, carburettor rebuild (complete dismantling, change of all gaskets), regular maintenance (filter, oil change, etc.).
You can drive it without any worries, but here's what needs to be done in the coming miles to make it perfect: replace the 4 tyres, take care of the universal joint seals, find a new fuel filler flap (lost while driving, currently it has an adaptable cap, it's not just a cosmetic problem), and the exhaust silencer is a bit worn so it purrs a bit. So there's still a few things to do to make it really perfect. I don't have time to tinker with it any more, I just run it from time to time and start it up at least once a week, if not every fortnight. I have a fairly complete file with the car's history, and I've driven around 3, 500 - 4, 000 km since I bought it. I also have the 4 original hubcaps in excellent condition. I can supply a white 205 GTI front skirt, as well as two vintage long spans. SERIOUS PERSON ONLY! It will be sold to someone who knows how to respect it and keep it as it is, preferably to someone who is aware of the risks involved in owning a classic car (and who contributes to their charm).
