The Wolverhampton-based firm of John Marston Ltd. earned fame for their superb Sunbeam bicycles at the close of the 19th and beginning of the 20th centuries. At the end of 1913, they launched a 3½HP motorcycle design which would make them world famous. Nickel plating on Sunbeams was kept to a bare minimum, with all other parts enamelled in black.
This 1922 Sunbeam has had a full restoration to a concours standard and was subsequently purchased by the late vendor for his collection. It is understood to have been on display, as the restoration was of such good quality, and then not used since it was purchased, however, the engine has been turned-over to keep things moving. This Sunbeam would be a delight for its new owner once it has been recommissioned and would certainly turn heads at any motorcycle meeting. Sadly, there is no paperwork with this machine, but it is on the DVLA database and a new keeper should be able to apply for a logbook through the V62 scheme. To be sold without reserve.
