The last of the “series” Rapiers, the MKV arrived in 1965. Just 3, 759 were produced, making them quite rare. Visual appearance was the same as the MK1V but the new model made use of the new 1725cc engine, and various other minor improvements.
This car is a 1967 Sunbeam Rapier MKV in blue with a white roof. It’s an older restoration that remains in superb condition, on top and underneath. The paintwork presents beautifully and most of the chrome has been re-plated. The interior is also very smart and has been re-trimmed. A substantial number of new parts have been fitted by the current and previous owners and the car is fitted with electronic ignition and a stainless exhaust.
On the road this Rapier drives beautifully; with quoted power of 91bhp and overdrive gearbox it is surprisingly brisk and unlike many 60’s classics perfectly home at motorway speeds. A rare model in beautiful order and just as pleasant to drive as it is to look at.
Ready to use.
