As a BMW Airhead specialist, this little Honda wouldn’t usually be amongst my stock, but it’s a rather special bike, and from Phil, a good customer of mine.
The bike is an original UK supplied model, (May ‘71) and it had been languishing at the back of a mutual friends garage for around 40 years. The mileage is genuine at less than 9000, so mechanically, Phil knew that the bike was sound. Over last winter, Phil totally stripped the bike, and completed the following work:
. Brand new wheel rims
. Brand new spokes
. Brand new tyres
. Brand new exhaust system
. Brand new fork seals
. Brand new head bearings
. Brand new control cables
. Brand new spark plugs
. Brand new shocks
. Brand new drive chain
. Tinware and frame repainted
. Centre and side stands(new bushings)
. etc, etc, etc
The engine top end was stripped and inspected, with all gaskets / seals etc replaced. The fuel tank was stripped and lined with an ethanol proof coating (Tapox) and fuel tap seals replaced. The carb was ultrasonically cleaned and rebuilt. All in all, the end result is a very pretty, and ultimately very usable classic Honda. It was never meant to Stafford show winner, but I’m sure you’ll agree, she looks a picture …….. especially at 54 years young! She starts easily, runs like a watch, and is a joy to ride. Perfect for those sunny Sunday afternoons and VMCC ride outs. Obviously Historic status, and HPI clear.
