Description
1960 Morris Minor 1000 Series III. Rare 4 Door Model. Clipper with blue Ambla upholstery. The Morris Minor, a beloved British motoring icon, often finds itself the subject of restoration projects — but few are as respectful and evocative as a sympathetic restoration. In this particular case the car has undergone a careful and sensitive return to its period-correct condition, honouring both its heritage and original character. This sympathetically restored Morris Minor underwent a full, nut-and-bolt refurbishment that was completed in September 2023. Every aspect of the vehicle has been meticulously attended to with careful attention paid to maintaining its period-correct character. Rather than stripping the car back to bare metal and attempting to make it “better than new,” the restorer took a measured approach. The bodywork, while repainted in its original Clipper Blue, retains small signs of age — a light patina that tells the story of nearly seven decades of use. The brightwork was polished rather than replaced, with small imperfections left intact to preserve authenticity.
Mechanical Restoration:
• The front suspension was completely rebuilt with new parts and components, fitted without compromise on cost.
• Rear leaf springs were reinstalled with brand-new bushes and bolts.
• A completely new braking system, including the handbrake, was installed for maximum safety and reliability.
• The steering was overhauled with new bushes and track rod ends.
• All wheel bearings and oil seals—front and rear—were replaced, along with the differential bearing and seal.
Body & Underside:
• Following thorough preparation an extensive body program was completed, including replacement of floor panels, wheel arches, chassis members, inner wings, door posts, and outer wings.
• The underside was treated with two coats of epoxy primer and two coats of topcoat for durability and longevity and is body colour.
Wheels & Tyres:
• All five original steel wheels were stripped, primed, and repainted in Old English White, then fitted with brand-new radial tyres.
Engine & Drivetrain:
• The original engine and gearbox, with under 70, 000 miles from new, remain intact and have been fully serviced to ensure smooth operation with a new clutch fitted.
Interior:
• The cabin has been fully retrimmed to original specifications, including new roof lining, seats, upholstery, door cards, and carpets, delivering a clean and authentic period look.
A huge history file is accompanying the car with bills and invoices detailing the parts supplied by Morris specialists for the restoration costing many thousands of pounds as well as copies of previous V5 documents, old mot certificates and original owners guarantee and manual. This restoration has been carried out with sympathy to the car’s heritage, carefully preserving its originality while ensuring long-term usability. It represents a rare opportunity to own a true British classic in very usable condition. This Morris Minor doesn’t just look right — it feels right. It drives with the charm and simplicity that made the car such a favourite in post-war Britain. The sympathetic restoration has preserved its soul, making it a rolling time capsule, not a showroom replica.
More than just a car, this Minor is a celebration of authenticity — restored with restraint, reverence, and a deep respect for its original identity.
