Description

.

We purchased this vehicle earlier this year from the family of its original owner, who sadly passed away in 2004. Following his passing, the car was placed into secure, heated storage and carefully kept for many years. After deliberating for a considerable time, the family ultimately decided to sell the vehicle, wanting it to go to someone who would properly understand and preserve it.

We have remained in dialogue with the family since the purchase and shared photographs of the car following its recommissioning. They have been over the moon to see it presented so beautifully, which speaks volumes about how much the car meant to them. We also have photographs documenting the vehicle being removed from storage after its remarkable 21-year slumber.

This is a genuine one-owner vehicle from new and remains exceptionally original. It benefits from a full Mercedes-Benz service history, with all servicing carried out at the same Mercedes-Benz dealership. The service book is fully stamped and supported by numerous Mercedes-Benz invoices and a comprehensive history file. Notably, the car was last serviced shortly before being placed into storage, and the file includes handwritten notes and quotations from Mercedes-Benz from that period.

Since acquiring the vehicle, it has undergone a careful and sympathetic workshop recommissioning process. This included the complete removal of old fuel and a gentle recommission throughout, with an emphasis on preservation rather than restoration. A detailed list of works carried out is available.

Cosmetically, minor age-related paintwork issues, including lacquer peel, have been professionally addressed. The interior has been refreshed to a very high standard: the driver’s seat has been professionally repaired by a specialist trimmer due to age-related fraying, the door cards have been removed and refurbished, and the interior now presents beautifully throughout. All wheels have also been professionally refurbished.

The vehicle is currently awaiting its MOT, which we anticipate will be completed within the next couple of weeks. A professional photoshoot has now been completed, and the vehicle presents exceptionally well in the accompanying images. Even the spare wheel remains unused and has never been on the road.

This particular model perfectly captures the refinement and engineering integrity of its era. It offers a driving experience that feels composed, mechanical, and reassuringly analogue — qualities that are increasingly rare in modern cars.

Viewed through a collector’s lens, it is hard to ignore how values of comparable icons from the same period, such as the Sierra Cosworth, have risen dramatically in recent years. In that context, examples like this remain quietly overlooked, and in our opinion represent outstanding value for money, especially when found in such original, unmolested condition.

More than anything, however, this car simply feels right. It has the presence, build quality, and honesty that only comes from careful ownership and respectful preservation. Everything about it speaks of pride, restraint, and longevity rather than modification or misuse. It is a genuinely lovely vehicle to see, to sit in, and to experience — the sort of car that immediately reassures you it has been cherished throughout its life.

It is genuinely refreshing to see a car that was so clearly the pride and joy of its one and only owner. Many examples of this model have, for want of a better phrase, been heavily altered or compromised over the years. This car, by contrast, remains a truly unmolested, honest, and highly original example.

We are keen for the vehicle to find the right home, where it can be appreciated and its journey continued.

The car is located in Oxfordshire, UK. Please feel free to get in touch to discuss further
